We’re looking at how Jesus could rest while the storm raged on. I set down three reasons why He could rest. We saw Jesus knew His calling and how we can know ours. We saw how Jesus enjoyed life and I tried to motivate you to enjoy yours. We’ve examine how Jesus stayed connected with the Father and how we can as well.
Now we have all kinds of advantages when we’re able to rest as the storm rages on.
On that note, I want to finish up by focusing on the advantages you have following the pattern of Christ. You serve the One who spoke and the winds and waves obeyed.
Knowing your calling gives you integrity. Working out of who you are and who you’re called to be is a great definition for integrity.
In this time of economic uncertainty you’re integrity is a valuable asset. More and more people will limit their business to those they know and trust. Your integrity earns you their trust.
People with integrity walk safely,
but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall.
Proverbs 10:9 (New Living Translation)
Enjoying life opens the door to the favor of people. We like to do business with people we like.
But Jesus himself grew in favor with man and with God… think about that for a moment.
If Jesus had to grow in favor with the Father, I’ve got to as well. He did it through obedience and so do we. But I want to make sure you know something before whipping out “Obedience is better than Sacrifice!”
Do you know you’re the apple of the Father’s eye? I was teaching on this…
Show the wonder of your great love,
you who save by your right hand
those who take refuge in you from their foes.
Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings
Psalm 17:7-8 (New International Version)
God cares about your concerns. His plans are to prosper you and not to harm you. He’s not angry with you. He’s not out to get your money. He’s you’re Dad, and He wants you to rise to your potential. And as your Dad, He’s willing to give you what you need to know….
Because you have integrity, because you enjoy favor, you’re able to receive inspiration…
Who may climb the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
Only those whose hands and hearts are pure,
who do not worship idols
and never tell lies.
They will receive the Lord’s blessing
and have a right relationship with God their savior.
Such people may seek you
and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.
Psalm 24:3-6 (New Living Translation)
Staying connected with the Father, is about growing our relationship with Him. Taking time to shut-up and listen allows Him to show us His love and favor and it provides opportunity for Him to give creative answers to our questions and comfort to our souls.
There are answers to your questions that God is longing for you to know. You’ve asked Him, and then doubted he’d answer. James tells us that’s a no-no. God speaks in dreams, pay attention to them. He speaks through people, he speaks through nature. Know that He wants you to have the answers to questions, and accept He’s almost always speaking, and look for him to answer – He will.
He’ll give you supernatural knowledge, wisdom, creativity and favor. He’s just that Good.
Integrity, Inspiration, Favor, this is a completely unfair advantage.
Now that you’ve seen how Jesus could rest as the storm rages on my prayer for you is that you’ll be able to do the same…oh I guess I failed to mention Jesus trusted God would finish the good work He started at the Cross. You have that same assurance in your life so rest on!
