Faith like a mustard seed can move mountains—wow… We’ve heard it a million times, and some of us have read it even. But the real world application is extremely far away. I stumbled upon a journal I had kept some time back. In it, I had written down an interesting moment…
I had seen an interesting job offer and I applied. Unlike a few others I had applied to at the time, I was in a very happy mood when I applied to this one. That morning, I had just finished my morning prayers. I was aware it had been two weeks without any feedback from the other jobs.
I remember smiling and clasping my palms together in prayer, “God, as for this one, just give to me—now! I’m going to go to the bathroom, and when I come back, I want that feedback. No two weeks!”
Truth is, when I stepped into the bathroom, I totally forgot about it. I walked back in, and that was when I saw the message. It was not asking for an interview, and it was not asking for anything—it simply said the job was mine if I wanted it! Of course I wanted it! I was so moved that I realized this was no coincidence. That was when I had written it down.
Faith is an interesting thing, but we usually fail to understand it—even more, we don’t sometimes see it when it manifests itself. On some occasions though, it’s pretty awesome. Jesus had been explicit: All you needed was just very little; the proverbial mustard seed-sized faith. If that little one can make things happen, then what about a little bit more?
Faith is like the currency used in the spirit realm, as my beloved pastor had once shared in church. That is what is used for anything. Nothing can be done without it. To make this simpler, let it me put it this way… The spirit is the dimension we leave in that we do not see. How can we depend on something we see to control the unseen? God is spirit, and He did create both physical and spiritual… but He likes to flex his muscles in the spirit, his own form, not man’s form, because man’s physical form is limited. Anytime God makes a presence in the flesh, it’s a mystery— the birth of Christ, the amazing mind-boggling miracles both in the Old and New Testaments, just to name a few.
I want to ask you today to tap into the limitless currency called faith, because just a coin can earn you a boastful of human treasures. Faith was the saving currency that has aligned us into God’s kingdom through Christ Jesus. Let us not let the great rewards of faith elude us simply because we want to find a reason or evidence for everything—because with faith, you can’t find one, no matter how hard you try or how far you go.
When there’s even the slightest chance of you being able to do it yourself, then faith won’t be playing a part—because you would think you are depending on yourself, and so you will be left to do it yourself! Having something to fall on is as detrimental in your quest to tap into faith’s treasures just as having doubt… Faith doesn’t require your effort! It requires you to fully and wholeheartedly believe in Jesus’ power to do it for you, and rest assured, it will be done.
It has worked a few times for me, because I have had the chance to fall on him 100% a few times. I try hard these days, eagerly hoping to tap more and more into that wonderful thing called faith. Don’t slack… Get your faith coin today!
