We’re told to pray without ceasing
We know we’re told to praying all the time…
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Ephesians 6:18 Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
Colossians 4:2 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
2 Thessalonians 1:11 To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power,
But how do we ask and keep asking?
Intercession not petition – Today it’s about persistence in prayer for others… (Unjust judge – personal justice)
I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. (Eph 1:16-17)[pullquote align=”right” cite=”JI Packer”]If you want to judge how well a person understands Christianity, find out how much he makes of the thought of being God’s child, and having God as his Father.[/pullquote]1. Approach God as your Father
“You sum up the whole of New Testament religion if you describe it as the knowledge of God as one’s holy Father. If you want to judge how well a person understands Christianity, find out how much he makes of the thought of being God’s child, and having God as his Father. If this is not the thought that prompts and controls his worship and prayers and his whole outlook on life, it means that he does not understand Christianity very well at all.

2. Remain thankful in prayer – good Father gives good gifts
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Phil 4:6)
3. Pray with others
Romans 15:5-6 ESV
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
