As I sat this morning to ponder over what I had read from my bible, it said “ Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised,” (Hebrews 6:15) , my faith begun to rise. I remembered the promises the Lord has made to me and I knew I will receive them all!
But as I looked around me, right in front of me was my shoe rack and what I saw surprised me. I saw shoes, some older than others and I realized some have gotten off my rack over time: they were old and worn. I realized with time, each and everyone of these shoes which were a blessing from God will expire and one by one, they will leave my rack till none existed.- newer ones will replace them. I looked at my collection of belts- it’s a quite a lot and look very new and healthy, but I knew their expiry dates will also come, one after the other.
As I pondered over these things, I came to understand why Abraham, despite the fact that he had received the promise the Lord made to him, had his eyes and heart fixed on something else- A CITY, WHOSE HANDS WERE NOT MADE BY MAN, AN ETERNAL CITY!!!
I realized that no matter what the Lord blesses me with here on earth, no matter its quality and value, it had its expiry date: even human life! So I reasoned to myself saying : If that’s the case, then I must yearn for greater things!!! Things that won’t expire. Things that were eternal!. This is my hearts desire and I pray it will be yours also.
DREAM IN RELATION TO THIS WORD.
I had a dream two nights ago. I saw myself in an atmosphere with the earth down below. God was also in that same atmosphere. I saw him pick a black grown man and place him on the earth. The earth was beautifl. It had plains, water bodies and just beauty. As we watched on, we saw the man start to run. He was sooo happy where he was and he increased his pace so to see other parts of the earth. But as he run and run he run further and further away from God. I was sad. God was sad because despite the fact that the man run sooo fast, he was limited as to the parts of the world he will ever be able to cover. He was limited! Then, after all the running, he will die. But worse of all, he will die without the Lord, because he left God when he saw his blessings the Lord Himself had given him and focused on them instead of walking with the Lord. He fixed his eyes on his blessings instead of the giver of the blessings and because of that, he lost God, he forgot all about Him. May God help us sacrifice our Isaacs to Him, our Samuels, so they do not become idols in our lives, taking the place of God, and taking s away from God. Amen.
