Why do I love social networking?

I’m ghostwriting a biography for a local business man and I’m amazed at how well he remembers all the people he’s connected with – how they met, what they did, what they said…

I can do that for a few people in my life…no, I can do that for one person in my life, my wife. And as time goes on, our stories mesh and merge.

So don’t ask me how I meet the people I connect with. I don’t know if it’s Twitter or Facebook or YouTube or email where I met Pastor Tom. We’re on each other’s email lists and have been DM on Twitter and emailing each other and commenting on blogs.

I really like what he’s doing with his blog The Favored Life . He’s been doing 2 minute audio casts. Now for those of you who aren’t pastors, keeping a thought to 2 minutes and saying something of value is a rare gift and very impressive.

Since I’ve been listening to his 2 minute thoughts, I’ve been wondering about doing daily ones myself. I’ve got two minutes to myself after dropping off my kids and wife in the mornings. I also have a really good audio recorder with a lapel mike. It would only take a few minutes to upload it and post it and Google is about to release indexing of audio and video files, so it’s not like it’s not of future value for SEO.

My problem is keeping it to 2 minutes.

I mean really, this blog post was supposed to be less than 200 words, just a quick shout out to Pastor Tom. But I’m already over that and the only thing that’s keeping me from going longer is a chicken-pot-pie in the oven that has a broken timer.
