When I was 5 I insisted on being baptized. After all, I had been a Christian for more than half my life and I found out in an adult service that I had to be baptized if I was a Christian.

When I was a pastor I wouldn’t baptize someone just because their parents wanted it done. They’d have to tell me why they wanted to be baptized. I had a lot of fun with them, but I can’t say any of these things happened to me.

This kid sings it well. Makes me wonder what her parents are like. I think they’d be fun to know.

I love to laugh, but some times I notice I haven’t laughed in a while. When I notice that, this is something to get me laughing again.

We’ve got to be proactive on this like laughter. It’s something we give up as we “grow up”.

I was reading through blog posts today and came across Ten Random Things About Me on Chris Gallager’s blog. And I thought to myself, “Self, you get dozens of emails every week with readers telling you about themselves.” (It’s true, I enjoy it and ask for it. There are amazing people I get to know every day.)

So I thought I’d have some fun with letting you know about some random things about me that you might not know because they just don’t come up in most casual conversations and I know I haven’t blogged about most of these things yet.

10 Random Things About Me

1. I’d rather read blog posts than newspaper.
2. I get local news from the radio on national and international from Twitter.
3. “Random” is a word my kids use to describe me.
4. I’ve never “let” my kids win a game. (It’s getting harder for me to win anyway.)
5. I find myself randomly reciting the Greek alphabet when I concentrate on something else.
6. I’ve only started texting 2 months ago…when my daughter got a phone…and I only text her and my wife.
7. I turn off chatting whenever I can (that’s what Twitter is for.)
8. I’ve read over 3400 pages of fiction the past 2 weeks (I’m riding the transit now).
9. I think Stargate Atlantis was the best Stargate Series…especially the episodes with the SG1 cast.
10. I’ve secretly trained as a ninja. (Ask me nice and I may share the tale.)

What’s 10 random things about you?

Who doesn’t like a kung fu kitty? I’m sure someone will object to this. The rest of us can share a smile.

I have kids. Sometimes we like to laugh at some things. Here are some animated animal pictures I wanted to show them and you.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never seen 6 hours of sunlight in the winter or 18 hours of it in the summer.

It doesn’t matter if you’re not used to spending the ONE WEEK of summer slapping mosquitos.

It doesn’t matter if you’re not a Canadian.

This one is really old.

This one of Ironman 2 is just cool.

A friend sent me a link to this. It made me laugh. Personally, I’ve always felt “seasons greetings” included boxing day and New Years, so I’ve never been insulted when people have wished it to me. But now with a ridiculous amount of political correctness silencing the most brilliant thinkers of our day, I guess it’s time for those of us with less brilliance and more tenacity to start standing up for things… like Christmas

I’ve been on this site most of today, working on setting up the Store. I haven’t set up the payment system yet, but am assuming it will all work out well, so I’m spending time getting all the products we have ready to go, ready for the site. You think it would be easier after setting up four different ecommerce sites with pretty much the same material. But even though it’s going good, it still feels like one of these days:

Oh well. I may be able to stay home tonight to get it the rest done. It’s not in time for Christmas… but it is in time for all of us whose families give us cash because they don’t know what to by… which reminds me, I need to do some shopping.

I started out posting another thought on Overcoming Sin, because there is still a lot to say and I really want to get on to blogging about hope… Maybe when I get back I can.
