There are times in our walk of faith where you simply need to know what God has said to you and be
obedient to his revealed voice.
Often it is as simplistic as doing what Jesus – and the ones he sent – taught those who follow after him to do.
If my life doesn’t line up with what the Bible says is true, I need to change my life. I can’t ignore scripture or pretend it doesn’t apply to my situation. That’s what being a follower of Christ is all about.
But as a follower of Christ, the Spirit also leads me. And “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:25) To keep in step in the Spirit, we need to hear what the Spirit says.
God has done everything for us to become friends once again with him. For reasons beyond me, he wants to have relationship with us. He is always talking to us. Do we take the time to listen?
James wrote: “You do not have, because you do not ask God.” (4:2) And “But when he asks, he must
believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” (1:6)
If you have lined up your life with what Jesus – and the ones he sent – taught those who follow after him to do, you need to call out to God to show you what he requires in a a given situation. Believe he is going to answer you, and keep in step with the Spirit by doing what he says.
That’s what we did when we left all that we knew to move to New Zealand.
God gave us the who, what, when and where, but withheld the why so that we could learn to keep in step with the Spirit.
We don’t have it all figured out yet, but we know it’s the best way to live!
