“What are you passionate about?” Russell Williams asked on his first get-to-know-you visit to our almost empty home. We had been investing in the local economy and had a few appliances and a table to sit around.
I hadn’t examined my motives for quite a while. It was all about obedience. God told us to go and we went. What was I passionate about? “It’s been a long time since I’ve allowed myself to be passionate about anything,” was my response as we sat around our almost empty home. I was honest… and a little pathetic.
What’s your passion? We all need seasons of clarity in the midst of the busy-ness we claim as our lives.
I pray that the next few moments may begin a season for you.
Why do you do the things you do? Why don’t you do other things? What voices do you listen to? Who determines the steps you take?
Do you not do things you’d like to do because of fear? Do you do the things you’d rather not do because of fear?
Fear is the opposite of faith and without faith it’s impossible to please God and if you are one who has been made friends again with God you’re goal has already been set for you.
Remember, he’s in the driver seat – you’re not. (Trust me, it is for the best.) His goal is to make you more like Jesus.
It doesn’t matter what your job is or gifts are, God is working everything for his good – and yours – to make you more like his son.
How can you be like Jesus if you’re not passionate about knowing Jesus?
Paul was and he was. He was striving to be like Jesus and he was passionate about knowing Jesus.
Philippians 3:10 is not a verse just to hang on your bathroom wall. Are you willing yet to share in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death and so somehow to attain resurrection from the dead? Christians all over the world are. They don’t let fear tell them what they can do or not do. And they’re praying for us – that we would awaken from our slumber.
What are you passionate about?

Thank you for this post. It makes me stop and think. I know I need to be more passionate about knowing Christ.
