When we’re ministering to hurting people, we need to know how to throw the life preserver without being dragged down with the one who is drowning. On the other hand. we can’t be so clinical and hard that we don’t relate to the person in need of positive relations. I’ve found a way to balance these extremes and understanding the difference between empathy, sympathy and compassion helps me to minister effectively. This is part of the seminar Ministering with Expectancy.
