Is the Resurrection of the Dead Important?

resurrection
The resurrection of the dead is such basic, foundational truth truth for Christians to understand but not everyone gets it.  It separates us from other world religions. It’s not the same as reincarnation. As we continue in examining what the what the writer of Hebrews calls “milk” we’ve looked at Repenting from Evil DeedsPlacing our Faith in GodBaptisms and the Laying on Of Hands. Now let’s examine the Resurrection of the Dead.

Do you know that the trumpet will sound and the dead in Christ will rise and those who are left behind will meet them in the air? The corruptible with put on the incorruptible and the mortal immortality.

We will all have bodies for all eternity. That tells us a few things. It tells us God likes our bodies. He wants us to have a physical presence. He’s created us a tripartite beings in His image.

Any idea you have that the body is evil, that the body is bad, that the body is “flesh” that you need to put to death realize that’s paganism not Christianity.

Christianity says that:

  • we need to take care of our bodies.
  • our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
  • when God create our bodies He declared them as “very good”.

One day you’re going to get a way better body that will be:

  • a recognizable body. 1 Cor. 13:2
  • a body like Christ’s body. 1 John 3:2
  • a body that will permit eating. Luke 24:41–43; John 21:12–13
  • a body in which the spirit predominates. 1 Cor. 15:44, 49
  • a body unlimited by time, gravity, or space. Luke 24:31; John 20:19, 26
  • an eternal body. 2 Cor. 5:1
  • a glorious body. Rom. 8:18; 1 Cor. 15:43

So don’t be distracted by thinking the body you have now is unimportant.

How do you take care of the body you have now? Do you consider it a spiritual exercise (pun intended)?

  1. I don’t take care of my body as much as I should but I definitely believe it is a spiritual exercise. I know that when my physical body is not being taken care of it impacts me spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
