We’re looking at 5 Reasons Why We Don’t Experience a Light Burden. We’ve looked at the possibility that we may be carrying a burden that’s not ours and examined how to Cast Our Cares on the Lord. We’ve also looked at the possibility that God has trusted us with something of value. Now we need to know if we’re trusting God.
Scriptures tell us these are the results when we trust Him:
- Peace – Isaiah 26:3-4; Romans 15:13
- Safety- Psalms 37:3; Proverbs 29:25; Isaiah 28:16
- Protection from Danger - Psalms 25:1-3
- Freedom from Fear - Psalm 27:1
- Strength – Isaiah 30:15
So ask yourself:
Do I have peace? Am I safe? Does He protect me? Do I have fear? Even when I don’t feel like it, do I have strength?
If you don’t have these signs that come from trust, choose to trust God right now.
Ask Him to forgive you of your lack of trust. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to more easily choose to trust Him.
“But I’ve done that,” you might say. “I’ve sought God. I’ve feared God. I’ve done what’s right.”
Good. Excellent. Do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 (New International Version)
Your story is not yet done being written. You will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Next time we’ll look at a third reason I see we don’t carry the Light Load. If you don’t remember what it is check out 5 Reasons We Don’t Carry a Light Load.
This afternoon, I was at a crossroads in making a moral decision. I googled “God, I am trusting You” confident that He would provide the ‘out.’ Your blog was the first result, and now I know that He provided.
The Ways that you list to know that you have trusted in God are now my Results in having placed my trust in God.
Peace, safety, protection from danger, freedom from fear, and strength.
Thanks to God and to your service to Him, today I am walking an inch taller rather than an inch smaller.
Thanks so much Stacy. I get so encouraged when I find out I’ve encouraged others.

Hi Trevor thanks for your inspiring post. Trusting in God gives us great results. The scriptures teach us for every little aspect of our every day lives. In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul says that “God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of sound mind”. Extremely important isn’t it? What a motivation this is. But we tend to forget who we trust our ways to.(Psalms 37:5)
Steven. Thanks for mentioning those two crucial verses we need to realize and live with.
Fear can be one of the greatest motivators or debilitators there ever was. If left unchecked, it will consume us. I believe that is one of the reasons the scriptures tell us to take our thoughts captive and present them to the Lord. Sometimes we just have to remind ourselves of what is in the spiritual realm not what is around us.
Keep us the encouraging work.

BTW @RevGerald. I’ve whitelisted you so your comments come up right away.
I read your list today and feel like I qualify. At times in the past, I know I haven’t qualified. The great thing about looking at these five areas is that the answer can potentially change over time. We can become either more trusting or less trusting. We can’t examine ourselves once, consider we’re okay, and then go on complacently. Peace, safety, faith in protection, freedom from fear, and strength are qualities we must constantly develop so that they don’t atrophy and fade away.

David,
I agree. We’re on a journey and it’s always dangerous to think we’ve arrived in this life. I’m not a big fan of introspection, but I know the value of examining my heart and motivation.
What a great litmus test and challenge!
