Thanks for your interest in seeing what I could bring to your group or event. I’d love to see how I can help you out.
Speaking FAQs
Events
What types of events do you speak at?
We speak at churches, weekend retreats, businesses, business networking meetings, seminars, conventions
Do you speak at mid-week events?
Yes, as our schedule permits.
Do you accept international invitations?
Yes but unfortunately we need to limit invitations outside North America. Canada and the US makes travel more feasible with a growing family at home. Invitations outside North America need to be booked 12 – 18 months in advance.
Will you help us promote our event?
We will help you marketed through our network: We’ll write about it on revtrev.com, talk about it on our podcast, mention and link to it on facebook, tweet about it on Twitter, and update it on our appropriate newsletters.
Can our leadership team meet with you before our event, or before even deciding if we want to extend a formal invitation?
We like to meet for up to 30 minutes with you before any commitment is made by either of us. We want to make sure we’ve got something to give to your group. Most likely this is by phone or video conferencing online.

Contact us if you want to fuller explanation of a topic.
What if our group wants a topic that’s not listed?
We’ll try my best to accommodate you. That said, at times our schedule doesn’t allow the hours necessary to prepare a new retreat package. We will let you know when you let us know your theme.
As you consider your themes, especially for a weekend retreat, know that our existing topics allow us to speak from our passion, where God has done the deepest work in our hearts. Our books and booklets, written on the same topics, are considered as tools to continue promoting spiritual growth after the event is over.
Expenses
What are your speaking fees?
We don’t have a set speaking fee because we want to be available for groups with varied budgets. That said, we rely on speaking income to help pay living expenses and fund our ministry. If we feel led to come to an event, we know God will also provide what we need.
One way this is done is through the sale of our products. We would like to be able to sell products from Expectancy Press at your event. We know this isn’t always feasible or acceptable and understand. But if it is we would like someone to be able to staff the table.
Do you accept honorariums?
Usually, yes, we do. However need to make sure all expenses are met above any honorarium.
What other expenses might we incur if we invite you to speak?
Groups are responsible for all travel, accommodation, meal, and (when necessary) resource expenses.
What airport do you use?
We fly from Edmonton Canada (YEG).
Is it okay for us to billet you in a private home rather than pay for a hotel room if our budget is really tight?
Our personal preference is to stay in a hotel because that allows us the freedom to prepare for the event, rest, and move about without the worry of disturbing someone else. However, if billeting would make an event more financially feasible for your group, we’ll be happy to work with that provided the home provides the ability for us to rest properly.
Booking
How far in advance do we need to book?
The sooner the better, but we’re always up for a new adventure. Did someone cancel on you? We’ll do what we can to step in.
What happens with a cancellation?
If we cancel due to illness or an emergency, we’ll return any deposit. Let’s agree to pray for each other because the only time we would ever cancel would be if we absolutely can’t make it. That’s rarely something that gives you time to find another speaker. But if we pray for each other, it’s rarer still that we’ll have to cancel.
What if we’re unsure of an exact date?
You’re welcome to submit a few options in your initial inquiry and we’ll let you know which dates will work with our calendar. If you wish to extend a formal invitation but are still unsure of the date, give your preferred date or dates.
We’d like to confirm if you’re available for a specific date but we’re considering other speakers, too. What should we do?
Contact us. We’ll answer your questions. Unfortunately, we cannot assure our availability to a group that has not extended a formal invitation but we can let you know what’s available for Karen or I at the time we talk.
Can we phone your office with our speaking request?
Sure. Call us toll free 888.229.8818 If we’re unavailable when you call I will get back to you asap. Please just make sure to tell us your time zone along with the best time to call you back.
So, are there challenges in writing horror novels? Absolutely. Anything worth your blood and sacrifice, scraping the scales off the underbelly of society, staring evil in the eye, and still holding your head up on Sunday in church is worth the challenge.
Horror novels? I’ve seen too much horror in real life for most horror writing to even be believable.
All over the world, Christians have taken to heart this simple, powerful and beautiful story based on the biblical figures of David, Saul, and Absalom.
