How to Steward Your Destiny – Go as Jesus Went

How do we steward our destiny? There comes a time for us to “go” and as we go, we need to go as Jesus went. Jesus Set the Pattern I can’t tell you when it’s time for you to go. But I’m glad to say Jesus gave us the pattern for how we are to “go”. In John chapter 20 Jesus was already crucified and buried and rose again. His disciples where hiding behind locked doors because they were afraid [...] Read more »

How to Steward Your Destiny – Look to What You Have In Your Passion

In our discussion on how to steward your destiny, we’ve already looked at discovering our destiny by looking at what we have in our nature. It’s not the only clue we have when we don’t have a spiritual father or mother who has encouraged us with what they see in our future. Our passion can show us what our God-given destiny is as well. Are you having a difficult time knowing what you’re passionate about? We’ve all been there. When [...] Read more »

How I Hear the Father Speak to Me

Unless you’re taking a test and the Teacher is silent, the Father is always speaking. It’s up to us to learn how He’s speaking in this season, or else we may just miss it. Job 33:14 says – For God speaks time and again but a person may not notice it. Why is it so important for us to notice what the Father says? First, it confirms we are His. My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they [...] Read more »

How I Hear the Father Speak

I’ve had different people tell me recently, “I can’t hear God the way you hear God”. While I know I’m the Father’s favorite… I know all of His children are His favorites so to hear Him speak is something that we should all expect. So let’s start with the basics. First, the Father spoke, and the visible and invisible came into being. When He sent His Son, a title He accepted was “the Word”. Yes, there are seasons when the [...] Read more »

Should I Be Hungry for God?

Should I be hungry for God? I came across this verse in Scripture and it jumped out as one that we push off into eternity. The problem I have with doing that is that the context doesn’t seem to suggest we need to leave it until we die. Jesus was saying some difficult things that made many of his followers turn back. One of these things was: “I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes [...] Read more »

7 Steps That Set Me Free with Truth

We need Truth. All of us can get focused on the lies we tell ourselves and the lies of the one who seeks to kill, steal and destroy. I’ve found the only solution for it is to allow the Father to regularly search our thoughts and show us any wicked way we’re walking in. When we can hear the Father’s voice chains fall off of our souls; wounds still festering are healed. Knowing He’s there in the dark places of [...] Read more »

How I Learn To Listen

Lately I’ve been hearing “wait for a week”, it gets me thinking I should slow down and consider God and give Him time so I can hear. I just made a list of of a number of projects I want to get done before I start a huge writing project. It’s not going to be easy fro me to wait…at least I know I’ll hear Him when I listen. This is one of the ways I’ve learned how to listen. [...] Read more »

God Has Forgiven Me – Day 23

Truth: If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude and lead ourselves astray, and the Truth [which the Gospel presents] is not in us [does not dwell in our hearts]. If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in [...] Read more »

I Am Chosen – Day 22

Truth: Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. Ephesians 1:4 (New Living Translation) Thought: “I am not my own. I have been bought with a price. I belong to God. I have been chosen before the foundation of the world. I have been set apart and called holy. I am His.” These are words I often find coming from my lips to remind myself [...] Read more »

Top 8 Tips for Fasting From Negativity

I did a little media package last year that got me on a few radio stations. For that media package I came up with a tip sheet for fasting from negativity. Here’s the top eight… Before I get to those, I should say a “thank you” to those who let me know about the ugly 404 message they got when they tried signing up for the 40 days of emails that help you live Life Above the Negativity. (You know [...] Read more »

Intolerance

Intolerance. The word holds so much more passion than its intrinsic meaning. In growing circles it’s synonymous with words like “Nazi” and “apartheid” both of which were at their core, intolerant. If you are unwilling to tolerate difference of opinion, you are intolerant and the only ones tolerant (read morally acceptable) people don’t have to be tolerant about are intolerant people. This however, makes them intolerant, but no one who labels themselves as tolerant is willing to admit that they [...] Read more »

Life Above the Negativity Challenge

This year’s challenge to bring every thought, word and action into agreement with the will of the Father expressed in Scripture is fast up on us. You don’t need to do it over lent. You don’t need my help to give up negativity. But if you’re looking for a change in your situation and possibly even your circumstance, why not step up to the challenge? Tweet Read more »

If you’ve contacted me about linking your blog to mine, it will be done when this site gets updated. I’m also working on posts for the rest of the year for all my blogs, and finishing up “How to Hope at the End of The Rope” is part of it. Enough about my personal updates. Time to get on with… How Hope Can Listen for the the Lord… We can be confident that God will speak. God speaks through His [...] Read more »

Hope Listens for the Lord

Hope listens to the Lord Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” Abiathar brought it to him, and David inquired of the LORD, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?” “Pursue them,” he answered. “You will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue.” 1 Samuel 30:7-8 David took the time to inquire of the Lord. This was something he did seven times in 1 and 2 Samuel. It [...] Read more »

Praying in the Spirit Strengthens You in the Lord

But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Jude 1:20 (New International Version) A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally 1 Corinthians 14:4 (New Living Translation) Did you ever notice Paul wished everyone would speak in tongues? Read 1 Corinthians 14:5 a little slower, and stop at the first comma. If you jump up to the verse 4 you’ll see why… because the ones who speaks in tongues is [...] Read more »

To Avoid Bitterness You Need to Live Unoffended at the Father

The second key to avoiding bitterness as you hope at the end of the rope is living unoffended at the Father. We can so easily become offended at God. Many times we stand before God with a broken dream, unfulfilled vision or loss of a promise and it feels just like the plant we tended so carefully has just gone dry and withered. It has. But don’t let the seed go to waste. Until a seed is dead, no life can come from it. Once it dies, it can be planted in good soil, watered well, and given the right amount of sun and life will spring from the dirt. The good soil, water and sun is much like us [...] Read more »

To Avoid Bitterness You Need to Forgive

I’ve been working on the manuscript for “How to Hope at the End of the Rope.” It’s turning into quite the book. I’ll continue posting excerpts from it here, but the book has far more information in it than I can put in the posts. I have other topics to get to.  But you’re comments really help to know how to form the discussion in the book. Thank again for all of them. Time to get on to today’s post… [...] Read more »

How Great is God?

I love spending time being in awe of the Father. It’s too easy in our busy society to forget to reflect. I know this is a little long, but trust me, the pay off is worth it. Thanks to NASA for the clips from Hubble. I’ve just ordered a bunch of royalty-free video clips as I want to start getting back into online video as a ministry tool. If you’re doing this as well, let’s hook up on YouTube Love [...] Read more »

Can You Honor When There is Un-repented Sin?

If you’ve been following this blog for some time, you may think I’m avoiding a far too common scenario. I know some of you think I’m forgetting some straightforward instructions in Scripture. Jesus said in Luke 17:3-4 (NLT) So watch yourselves! “If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.” We are to rebuke a [...] Read more »
