How Can We Stop Worry? Step One – Agree God Cares

overcome worry

In this series titled “How Big is Your But?” I’ve spent a lot of time discussing the problem and trying to get us to think about the excuses we may not even realize we’ve rationalized. It’s about time I get onto giving you the practical spirituality for this thing called life. You can stop worrying and being afraid. Jesus wasn’t worried with the weather, the people, the miracles that had to happen…He walked in peace and that peace is yours. [...] Read more »

How to Steward Your Destiny Point 2 – Look to What You Have In Your Nature

We’re continuing our series on How to Steward Your Destiny. I’ve already written about how to seek wise counsel - that’s something I’ve been doing the last couple of weeks as I’m seeking God for timing of prophetic answers – in this post we’ll talk about the principle of looking to what you have in your nature. I’m assuming you have a prophetic word, but what if you don’t? It doesn’t mean God isn’t interested in your destiny. It may simply mean [...] Read more »

Why I Fear the Lord – 12 Benefits

Why should I Fear the Lord? It can’t be simply to get the good He has for us. In fact, it shouldn’t be for any of the benefits the Scripture tell us. We need to know how to fear Him because of who He is. The One who spoke the Worlds into existence is bigger than any “friend” box I can dream up for Him. I’m outlining the benefits to help increase the expectancy and therefore the desire to learn [...] Read more »

It is Good to Do Good – Day 14

Truth: How can I repay the LORD for all his goodness to me? Psalm 116:12 (New International Version) Thought: I don’t consider myself a modern thinker. I’m resistant to the labels others try to force on me.  I think about webs of relationships, not linear cause-and-effect. I can hold multiple conflicting thoughts without any angst. And I’m a follower of Christ. I know this makes some people nervous. However, I’m believing that from post-post-modernity the greatest theologians in history will [...] Read more »

Life Above the Negativity Challenge

This year’s challenge to bring every thought, word and action into agreement with the will of the Father expressed in Scripture is fast up on us. You don’t need to do it over lent. You don’t need my help to give up negativity. But if you’re looking for a change in your situation and possibly even your circumstance, why not step up to the challenge? Tweet Read more »

Taste and See the Lord is Good

New Zealand ice cream is the best. It’s not that the ice cream we have in North America is all that bad, but it is not even in the same category for taste. We have more selection in Canada, but the quality can’t be compared. You wouldn’t believe how good it is. It’s probably because of the fat content in the milk. You can’t describe a taste. It’s subjective and unknowable without experience. God’s almost like that… not the subjective [...] Read more »

Mighter Than The Waves

For me the Ocean is one of God’s mightiest creations. I LOVE the sea. Nonetheless, I don’t like swimming in it. Sharks, stinging Jelly fish, snappy crabs and other creatures although magnificent handiwork’s, are all cause for concern. As far as I’m concerned the West Edmonton Mall water park with its fake wave pool is a much safer and desirable place for swimming. But to sit on a sand dune and to listen to the roar of the crashing waves [...] Read more »

Praying in the Spirit Strengthens You in the Lord

But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Jude 1:20 (New International Version) A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally 1 Corinthians 14:4 (New Living Translation) Did you ever notice Paul wished everyone would speak in tongues? Read 1 Corinthians 14:5 a little slower, and stop at the first comma. If you jump up to the verse 4 you’ll see why… because the ones who speaks in tongues is [...] Read more »
