Welcome to everyone who signed up this week at revtrev.com. Thank you for joining this amazing community. For all my readers who have missed it, I have a short survey I’d really appreciate you taking a couple minutes to fill out. I’m working on focusing RevTrev.com on what my readers want, rather than whatever grabs my attention this minute. You’re helping me do it. Want to learn what I’ve discovered about my readers? Read on…
A RevTrev Reader is a leader. They might not be in an official position of leadership, but in their families, communities, businesses, professional organizations and churches they lead…naturally.
They lead, but aren’t always looking for “how to lead” help. They most often are looking for answers to questions they could never ask their spouse, business partner, pastor or denominational leader. Their questions don’t fit into a handbook. Their questions deal with the how-to of living not the theory of leading.
They are better educated, or at least think quicker on their feet, than most people they hang around. It’s not something they lord over others…it just is…and it’s one of the reasons others turn to them for advice or help.
They are people first – mother and wife, husband and father. Many are coming close to the stage in life where they are grandparents as well…it’s not that far off, even if they deny it. Their circumstances and time in life have them occasionally wondering, “has my life made a difference?” They all have enough time to make sure it does.
They don’t trust “just any yahoo”, they take time to reflect before they extend trust. But once that trust is earned it is for life…or at least for as long as it’s not abused.
Most, but not all of them, are Christians.
Almost all – even those who aren’t Christians – have had an experience with God and it’s been – more often than not – supernatural.
For many this supernatural experience is ongoing. Most are seeking more of God. They know the difference between the Church and the Kingdom…they may not know how to articulate it, but they know the church they’ve experienced is a bit disconnected from the God they’ve come to experience.
It’s not that they don’t have questions about God…they do…and that list seems to keep growing. What they are sure they know about God seems to be getting smaller…and deeper…so their not really panicked that the questions they have about God keep growing. They are content…or at least growing more content with time.
They have questions about how He works in the world and how the church works with Him. What they’ve been taught in the church or denomination doesn’t always sit right. It’s theory that doesn’t work out in the how-to of life.
Most aren’t as connected in a church as they once were. Some still attend, but they aren’t as involved. If they’re a pastor, they know they don’t have the passion they once had. They aren’t even sure they want that same passion back.
Many RevTrev Readers main spiritual connection is with a small group of people. It could be a small group in their church, or a small group of like-minded business associates or a small group of local pastors. Often it’s more of a house church model. Some have lost interest even in that…how long can you pray for the same problems and not see results? They are left with the inevitable, “What’s next?” Almost all want to church to become the bride without spot or wrinkle…there are differing opinions on how to help it become that or even if it’s possible.
They love God…or at least want to love God…
They often don’t really know what they want. They’ve lived long enough to know what they want is often not what they need.
They need to be listened to.
They need to be valued.
They need to know what they do matters.
They have a suspicion that this should happen in community, but haven’t experienced that for themselves…at least for a long time.
They write, “I’m looking for answers” but really they are looking to be loved and accepted and become better than who they are and better than the examples they’ve seen…and they grow to accept that happens over time.
Can I pray for you?
God of all peace, you are our peace. Lord of all lords, you are our God. Let you wisdom and grace and peace and mercy guide and empower all of us this week. Amen

New Training Available – How to Win the Hostile and the Hiding
I’m trying out a new way to deliver training. Can you check it out and let me know what you think about it? Do you have friends or families who seem to have walked away from God? Maybe they are even hostile to him? What if there is something you can do beyond prayer to help get them back on the right side? What are you willing to do? You don’t want to miss this training. Share it with others>>>
Ready for some LIVE Training?
I’m going to be testing something out at MoreThanABucketList.com – LIVE training! I have an account at BigMarker.com that should allow me to record it and make it available later for people. Since I’m starting this I thought a great topic would be Confidence for All of Us… check it out and register to attend if you can make it, or ask me your question if you can’t. I really appreciate it. >>>
Trials and Tribulations
This is a guest post by Robert Russo. He brings some good thoughts to consider. I’ve tried to answer similar questions people have in the post Is God Punishing Haiti? I know people struggle with this a lot, so be sure to leave your questions and comments Read now >>>
Next up on RevTrev.com
I told myself this morning “If I can fix the RSS feed on the current site, I’ll go through every post to fix the broken links.” It’s been a few years of blogging where I’ve learned a lot from my mistakes, a number of announcements about other sites that have come and gone, a drive to focus on my readers more than my whims, and a cool new focus for the vision of RevTrev.com… I have a LOT of work to do, and the site may be shut down periodically for maintenance. What I plan to do may make google really slap me, but in the long term it’s better all around. I have over 1400 blog posts to go through. When I use a broken link detector I continually crash my database. I have WAY to many categories. Time to simplify… If I only didn’t have the three other sites I’ve promised to set up or update I would know what I’m doing this weekend. I guess what I’m saying is “Thanks for your direction and patience”
Have a great week.
