This is the prayer I pray for my future grandkids every day…feel free to use it for yours.
I ask for awesome and protected and generous and kind and God-loving grandkids. May they be healthy, whole, intelligent, productive, gifted, obedient and godly. May they know they are loved and never lose their natural inclinations to love and trust the trustable. May they love and worship you all their days and grow to know you better and better.
Protect them from harm and plans of evil. May they be protected from anyone with evil plans. Keep them from injury and disease. May nothing from our genetics keep them from living out the best version of themselves.
Make them brave for others. May their fearlessness be built on complete and total trust in you and never on ignorance or arrogance. May they know and live knowing their joy and hope and peace come from always trusting you.
Give them good and godly friends who look out for their interests and not just their own. Let iron sharpen iron and friend encourage friend. May they tell them the truth in love and give good advice and guidance. I pray they will have friends who are wise and speak your wisdom to them. May they have lifelong meaningful friendships where blessings are multiplied and burdens are helped carried.
Help them to seek you with all of their hearts, to seek you and find you, and to seek you and live.
Never let the enemies’ plan—to make them less than who’ve you’ve destined them to be—ever be successful.
Take everything meant for evil—and everything that causes them harm done in ignorance or arrogance—and use it for good. Dry every tear, heal every wound. May they learn to have well-healed wounds. Make them unoffendenable. Fill their lives with good things. Quiet them with your love.
Bless the work of their hands. May they long enjoy the work of their hands. Thank you that you’ll bless them with all kindness and all knowledge and wisdom so they’ll trust everything is figureoutable.
I pray the same for their future spouses. May they know what commitment is and wholeheartedly commit to each other—in the god-honouring way and time. May offence be covered and forgiveness flow freely between them always.
May they see the goodness of the Lord in land of the living. May they live all the days of their lives. May they be, stay and remain fully alive in you.
And give our kids grace and wisdom, guidance and patience, love and understanding and pass the blessing onto future generations.
Help me have patience to wait until my kids are ready to have kids—and not pressure them beforehand, knowing you make all things beautiful in its time.
