This is the prayer I pray for my politicians every day. I pray for them by name.
I will pray God helps them. I will intercede for them. And give thanks for them.
1 Timothy 2:1-2
Thank you for entrusting them with our welfare. Bless them as they bless others. Encourage them as they encourage others.
May your will be done through them before any personal, partisan or lobbyist agenda that may dominate their thoughts. Give them wisdom when they ask for it and even if they don’t think to ask you for it. May that wisdom be first of all pure. And also be peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. May it be full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. May it show no favoritism and be always sincere.
Help them if they seek you to find you and your righteous, peace and joy. Help them when you’re not even on their radar by your grace. Your grace is sufficient and poured out for us all. If you can talk through a donkey—and talk through me—help me recognize when you speak your wisdom through them.
I seek the peace or the place and province/state and country and world you have placed me. And I work for the best for where you’ve planted me because I know when it prospers, I prosper. When it’s troubled, I’m troubled. Forgive me for complaining when I should be praying. Help me to pray and not complain.
Thank you for them. Thank you for their willingness to serve others. Thank you for the good they work from. Thank you for their skills, connections, hard work, and willingness to serve.
Protect their families and relationships while they serve. Don’t let them go the way so many have gone.
Use this season to speak powerfully to them personally. May your kindness lead them and us to repentance when needed.
Bless the works of their hands. May times of refreshing be theirs when they need it by your grace.
May we long enjoy the work of their hands.
And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare. Jeremiah 29:7
